Course description

English for ECE introduces Oral Storytelling. This online, self-paced course will help au pairs and nannies to prepare themselves for working in an English-speaking environment.

The course focuses on specific language skills such as pronunciation, vocabulary, word stress, and intonation for oral storytelling.

The course includes video presentations, listening exercises, and interactive activities that students can work through at their own pace. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate.

It is recommended that students have at least an intermediate level of English to take this course.

Heather & Michele

Heather is a teacher and mother of five-year-old twin boys. She has been teaching English to adults for the past 15 years, and currently works as an English instructor with Vancouver Community College. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Victoria, she completed a Bachelor of Education degree at the University of British Columbia and an ESL training certificate from Columbia College. She has taught English to adults in a variety of settings, and at various skill levels.

Michele is an ESL teacher, and a mother of two wonderful children - Sara, age 7 and Matthew, age 5. She taught ESL at Vancouver Community College for nine years, and before that the Coquitlam School District and a private language school. She graduated from UBC with a bachelor's degree, and received her TESL certificate from VCC. She has a passion for education, and helping people achieve their career goals through language learning.
